The Last Broadway Star Hooray – Part 1

Instructions for Creating the June 2018 Broadway Star Paper Pumpkin Projects

On Monday evening, I met up with a couple of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators to make Paper Pumpkin projects. I was excited to get started on the June 2018 Broadway Star kit. It’s full of  bright colors: Lovely Lipstick and Lemon Lime Twist, combined with black and white, as well as gold foil and sequins. Such a fun combo! Watch this short video to see the contents of the kit.

Between talking (a lot) and stamping (not as much), only the two sample cards from the kit got done!

Lemon Lime Twist Cards

However, I was up bright and early Tuesday morning and all of my supplies were still on the table. So I grabbed a cup of coffee, and thought about how I could change the designs, since I rarely create two cards exactly alike.

Beginning with the festive Lemon Lime Twist card bases, I added scraps of the Stampin’ Up! Year of Cheer specialty designer series paper to three of the cards. The red strips on the Congrats card are from the edges of the Lovely Lipstick banner sticker sheet. I also cut about 1″ off the bottom of one of the white banner stickers for the sentiment.

HINT: you can still find this Year of Cheer paper on the clearance rack if you hurry! It’s so pretty for the upcoming winter holidays!

Black and White Striped Cards

Next I moved on to the black and white striped card bases. I had a blue and pink tag on my desk, left from another project. So I added it, along with two cakes to the first card.

But the color combination wasn’t making me happy :(. What to do?

Grab a Basic Black and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write marker and change the colors on the tag! Then tie a bit of the black and gold twine around it and add pearls around the marquee to make it pop!

Staying with the landscape card orientation, the next card is useful for so many occasions, just by stamping a sentiment like ‘Happy Birthday’, “Congratulations’, or ‘Happy Anniversary’ inside. The green arrow piece is a sticker left over at the bottom of the green banner.

For the last black and white card base, I used the piece of the white banner left after I trimmed an inch off the bottom. I added a few gold stars from my stash with glue dots. Then I used the remaining Lovely Lipstick banner and cut out ‘Happy” with the Hello You thinlits, and stamped ‘Birthday’ from the retired Big News stamp set to finish off the inside.

There you have it – the 8 finished cards from the kit!
