Beautiful Day is a perfect set for anyone who enjoys coloring! The large butterfly and flower image, shown below, make it easy to add color with Stampin’ Blends, watercoloring, or even colored pencils. There are also two sentiments in the set, and I find myself using the birthday greeting quite often!
Today’s card is very simple. First stamp the butterfly in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ Petal Pink card stock. Then add color to the butterfly with the light and dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend markers, leaving the Petal Pink to show through in some areas. After coloring, attach this butterfly layer to a Calypso Coral card base and stamp the greeting in Calypso Coral ink. If desired, make the butterfly shimmer by adding Clear Wink of Stella over it. Finally, add a couple embellishments, such as these Calypso Coral Enamel Dots.
Combine Paper Pumpkin Cards and Beautiful Day Greetings
When putting together the cards in the May 2019 Hugs From Shelli card kit, I discovered that the birthday sentiment from Beautiful Day fits perfectly on the Large label for a quick and easy birthday card. I don’t know about you, but birthday cards are always the quickest to disappear from my stash! So using the Beautiful Day stamp set with the Paper Pumpkin kit was the perfect solution.
Case Catalog Cards
The next card, shown below, is found on page 131 in the Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. Isn’t it pretty? It uses a technique called No Line Watercoloring and here’s what you need to know to copy it or change it up.
To create this watercolor effect, for each butterfly, stamp off the butterfly image in Sahara Sand ink, then stamp it on Shimmery White card stock. Next, use Petal Pink, Rococo Rose, and Merry Merlot ink pads and an Aqua Painter to loosely watercolor in the butterflies. Build layers of the ink wash. Cut out the butterflies with Paper Snips.
Now, emboss a piece of Shimmery White card stock with the Subtle embossing folder. Enhance this layer with a watercolor wash in Pool Party ink. Then add the butterflies to the white layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the card base, use Gray Granite card stock. Stamp the ‘Always Thinking of You’ sentiment from Beautiful Day in Merry Merlot ink on Whisper White card stock. Die cut the labels with the Stitched Label Dies and further embellish the card with sequins and the Petal Pink 5/8″ Striped Organdy Ribbon.
