#simplestamping is the hashtag for you if you love quick and easy, simple cards. Maybe you’re new to cardmaking or are simply overwhelmed by ALL THE STUFF. Or perhaps your life is jam-packed and you don’t have a lot of time for creativity. Whatever the case, #simplestamping projects get back to the basics.
Each month Stampin’ Up! challenges demonstrators to create cute handmade cards easy enough for new stampers. For the November Stampin’ Up! Challenge, the theme is Thank You. The supplies are just stamps, ink and paper. We’ll be using the Timeless Tropical stamp set today. It’s perfect because it has both images and sentiments in one package!
Our ink pad is a Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad, along with Old Olive and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers. When I started on my stamping journey just over ten years ago, I didn’t own many ink pads. Instead, I purchased the Many Marvelous Markers set. With the marker brush tip I can add multiple ink colors on one stamp. Before stamping, I just breathe on the stamp to re-moisten the ink. This technique is called “Markering”.
#simplestamping Thank You Card
For today’s card the base is Sahara Sand cardstock. In addition, Brights 6 x 6″ Designer Series Paper (Coastal Cabana) creates the “water” for our tropical scene.

Card Details
Ready to make this card? Start with an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of Sahara Sand cardstock. Cut it in half on the long edge to create two 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card bases. Set one aside for your second card. Score the other at 4-1/4″ and fold. This is the card base for our first card.
Next, color the palm trees from Timeless Tropical with Stampin’ Write markers. Begin with Sahara Sand for the trunks, then add Old Olive on the palm branches. After coloring, breathe on the stamp to remoisten the ink. Then stamp once on the left side, about 1/4″ from the top of the card front. Re-color the stamp and continue the pattern across the front as shown. Be sure to leave space to add the sentiment. But don’t be afraid to stamp off the edge of the card on either the right or the left side! Add the greeting in Soft Suede ink.
After completing the stamping, cut a 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Coastal Cabana paper from the Brights pack. Give it a small simple curve with a paper snips. Then adhere it to the bottom of the card, overlapping the palm tree trunks. By stamping before adding the patterned paper, the trees are anchored by the water. TIP: If you’ve stamped your trees too high, you can adjust the height of the Brights piece to fit.
