Happy Birthday Single Layer Card

Happy Birthday on the High Seas My stenciling craze didn’t stop with just one card, of course. So here’s the second creation of the stamping session. This time I chose the stencil from the retired Stampin’ Up! Hooray It’s Your Day Simply Created Kit because it reminded me of ocean waves. While this kit is no longer available, there is a Striped Scallop Thinlit in the current catalog with a very similar pattern that could probably substitute for this stencil. After taping the stencil and Bashful Blue card stock (also retired, but any light blue card stock would work) with…

Cherry On Top

Shoe Box Swap Gather To Stamp Last month at the Song of My Heart Stampers demonstrator meeting we had a shoebox swap! If you don’t know what that is, it’s a get-together where each participant designs a card and cuts all the pieces needed to create their design. Then the cut pieces, along with stamps, ink and embellishments are placed in a shoebox or other container. Everyone goes around the tables and creates the project in each box. It’s so much fun! At this gathering, the Stampin’ Up! Cherry On Top DSP (Designer Series Paper) stack and coordinating Washi Tape was a…

June Paper Pumpkin (Yes, I know it’s nearly the end of July already!) Sneak Peek Subscriptions Are you a Paper Pumpkin subscriber? I’ve subscribed off and on over the last few years and I’m definitely more impressed with the quality of the kits I’ve received in the last year than the initial kits. Beginning tomorrow, they’re an even better deal. Deal Details From July 23-September 10, Stampin’ Up! is having a half-off sale for…

Go Ahead and Splurge a Little Today and Save Some Money too!

The other day I was cleaning my stamping space to make sure I have room for all the items that will be available in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog that will be arriving soon (never too early to prepare for new stuff!). In the process, I ran across some sweet little note cards that have been around for a little while. (OK, maybe a little while is an understatement.)

They were begging for a little color, so I got out my ink refills and aqua painters and got to work. After painting them, the notecards seemed a bit flimsy, so I cut off the fronts and adhered them to some Bermuda Bay cardstock, along with coordinating cardstock and designer series paper. Then I added Crystal Effects to the bubbles to give them a little dimension. Here’s how they turned out:

They were so much fun to color!
When was the last time you colored or painted just for the fun of it?
If you’re like me, it’s been a while.
Right now is a great time to try it!

Until Friday, April 10, 2015, you can splurge a little on Stampin’ Up! Products because Shipping is FREE! That’s a great deal because normally shipping adds a minimum of $6.95 to your order. So now you can use those $$$ to buy the crafting products you love 🙂

Go ahead, I give you permission.

Get a couple of ink refills, an aqua painter or two and some pretty paper and give it a whirl!

So I created a birthday card with the Hooray It’s Your Day Simply Created kit and matching Hooray It’s Your Day stamp set. So much fun! Stencil It The kit comes with two stencils, and lots of other products to create 20 cards, 5 each of four designs! Creativity is for Everyone

Creativity “I’m not creative”. How many times have you heard someone say that? Yet, is it really true? The Creative Process When someone makes that statement in reference to card-making, to me it means “I have not had the chance to play and explore enough to feel confident in using the products available and coming up with my own designs”. Did you make your first card or your first art project completely on your own, with no instructions, and with materials you had never used before? If you did, were you overjoyed with the way it turned out? The Learning…

Today I’m excited to show you the reverse side of this paper used to create two easy cards. Here’s the first one: This card is very quick and I love the bokeh effect on this paper! Cut an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of Coastal Cabana card stock into two 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card bases. We’ll use one for this card, and one…

Big News Birthday

Birthday cards seem to be the cards I need most often, so I like to keep a variety on hand. Today’s card is an easy (less than 10 minute) card for the Song of My Heart Christmas party Shoe Box Swap. If you’re not familiar with shoe box swaps, basically each person who is attending designs a card and cuts a set of all the pieces for each person who is attending and puts them in a shoebox or other container. Then they add the stamp set, any ribbon, embellishments,  a glass block, punches, ink pads, etc. to the box…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 5

If you’ve just joined this series of Everyday Occasions cards, you can see the 16 cards created from this kit in my previous four posts, beginning Monday, August 18th. Wow! 16 cards PLUS the 10 cards made in the workshop, for 26 cards total, and I STILL have stuff left. If you’re ready for more, I have the last four cards for you! Card #17: Since I send a lot of birthday cards, I was inspired to make one using the Gumball Green, Pool Party, and Whisper White color scheme from the sample brochure. The Whisper White card stock measures 3”…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 4

After the workshop I mentioned on Day 1 of this series, I had 10 card bases left. I made three additional 3”x3” thank you cards to complete the set of 4 small cards yesterday, so now I only have one of the original card bases left. BUT I still have LOTS of tags & embellishments! First I’ll share the last card I made from the kit card bases: Card #13: This one is very similar to the sample, but I exchanged a glimmer paper circle for the scalloped circle and added a silver glimmer heart. Whew! 13 cards done, and I…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 2

Don’t forget to check the great weekly deals available this week! The links are in the sidebar, or just click the Shop Now button to go to my online store and select Weekly Deals. Yesterday I shared the first four cards I created with the Everyday Occasions kit after my last workshop. Today I have four more for you:   Card #5: On this card, I simply added an arrow clip to the top of the tag. Since my tag is larger than the sample, the top looked “naked”, so the clip added that extra ‘sumpin’.   Card #6: No…

PPA211 Color Challenge

This week there’s another color challenge at the Pals Paper Arts – PPA211! Here is the pretty color combo for the challenge and my card :   The inspiration for my creation was this beautiful card by Lynn on Pinterest. I liked the central butterfly image and the colored square layered on an embossed piece of whisper white card stock, so I started with those, but chose to incorporate more Daffodil Delight in my design. I love bright yellow, whether it’s in my garden, on a card, or on my kitchen walls! The butterfly was stamped in Night of Navy on…

Celebrate in June with PPA209!

At our house, June is jam-packed with birthdays, accompanied by an occasional anniversary or graduation celebration or two….or three. Oh, and don’t forget Father’s Day is thrown in there too! All these special occasions have put a serious dent in my card supply! To remedy that I decided to participate in my first PPA card challenge… Here is the card I created: Nicole’s sketch for the challenge: As you can see, I pretty much stuck to the sketch (love it!). I usually tend to center most of the elements on my card, so it was fun to mix it up a little by…
