PPA 240 You Brighten My Day!

You Light Up My Life & Brighten My Day!

On a gray winter day in Wisconsin, whose day couldn’t use a little brightening? Today I played along with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA240) and this sketch:
Last week, as I was twiddling around an idea about how I could combine the sentiments I love from two different stamp sets, I saw this PPA sketch and decided to try it out. So here’s what happened…
Simple.
Bright yellow contrasted with winter gray.
A little cut with the paper trimmer.
Punch, punch, punch.
Add a little washi tape.
Done.
Will you brighten someone’s day with a handmade card today?
Hope so.

Have You Used Your Paper Pumpkin Pieces?

Use Every Piece of Your Paper Pumpkin! Do you ever finish creating a kit and have some pieces left over? I’m always behind on putting my Paper Pumpkin kits together! Sometimes I’m not even sure which kit the parts came from 🙂 So recently, I put together a card to clean up some leftovers on my table. It’s fun to mix and match the pieces to come up with a card like this: Love Notes One of the kits I used is the from the Love Notes Paper Pumpkin, January 2014, including the fancy card base with the triangles cut…

Stampin’ Up! Another Side to Best Year Ever!

In the past few days I’ve shown a couple of cards with one sheet of paper from the Best Year Ever package, available as a FREE ITEM when your Stampin’ Up! order reaches $50 (before tax & shipping). Today I’m excited to show you the reverse side of this paper used to create two easy cards. Here’s the first one: This card is very quick and I love the bokeh effect on this paper! Cut an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of Coastal Cabana card stock into two 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card bases. We’ll use one for this card, and one…

Merry Little Wish Bag

Merry Little Wish Bag

No time to make a card today, but I found a little time this week to finish up a couple of Paper Pumpkin bags that were left over in my craft room from the In the Bag Kit: The first one just uses the circles and letters from the kit, and may get more embellishments at a later date. It’s looking a wee bit plain for a party bag 🙂   For the second one, I turned the blue circles over and used the plain white side, then added circles of wild wasabi behind the letters. I cut a star…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 5

If you’ve just joined this series of Everyday Occasions cards, you can see the 16 cards created from this kit in my previous four posts, beginning Monday, August 18th. Wow! 16 cards PLUS the 10 cards made in the workshop, for 26 cards total, and I STILL have stuff left. If you’re ready for more, I have the last four cards for you! Card #17: Since I send a lot of birthday cards, I was inspired to make one using the Gumball Green, Pool Party, and Whisper White color scheme from the sample brochure. The Whisper White card stock measures 3”…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 4

After the workshop I mentioned on Day 1 of this series, I had 10 card bases left. I made three additional 3”x3” thank you cards to complete the set of 4 small cards yesterday, so now I only have one of the original card bases left. BUT I still have LOTS of tags & embellishments! First I’ll share the last card I made from the kit card bases: Card #13: This one is very similar to the sample, but I exchanged a glimmer paper circle for the scalloped circle and added a silver glimmer heart. Whew! 13 cards done, and I…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 2

Don’t forget to check the great weekly deals available this week! The links are in the sidebar, or just click the Shop Now button to go to my online store and select Weekly Deals. Yesterday I shared the first four cards I created with the Everyday Occasions kit after my last workshop. Today I have four more for you:   Card #5: On this card, I simply added an arrow clip to the top of the tag. Since my tag is larger than the sample, the top looked “naked”, so the clip added that extra ‘sumpin’.   Card #6: No…

Everyday Occasions Cards – Day 1

About a week ago, I held my first workshop where I used a kit as the creative inspiration and it was loads of fun! Before the group arrived, I opened the Everyday Occasions kit, laid out all the card bases together and displayed the stamps and embellishments from the set. Then I added scissors, adhesive, and the two full size stamp pads that matched the ink spots (Island Indigo and Basic Gray). I also put out the Stampin’ mist and Stampin’ Scrub so they could easily change ink colors whenever they wanted. Once everyone arrived and settled in, I covered…

Serene Birds for PPA210 Color Challenge

Good Morning! Hope you all had a fantastic 4th of July weekend and are ready for the start of a new week. Over at Pals Paper Arts, there’s a color challenge this week with this color palette: PPA210: Basic Gray | Lost Lagoon | Pool Party The card I’m sharing with you today started with the basic gray stamped image from Serene Silhouettes and was originally intended to be a sympathy card. The colors are so tranquil and could easily be used for that, as well as many other occasions. The birds were colored with an aqua painter in lost lagoon. As…

You’re One of a Kind

In my last post, I challenged you to change out the paper and ink and create a flowery card for someone special. This is the new version I created in summery colors, using paper from Birthday Basics that has a butterfly-like pattern to it. I love the gumball green and crisp cantaloupe together!  Both cards used a half doily as the background for the sentiment, but they are two different sizes with different lace patterns. Which one is your favorite? Product List A Dozen Thoughts Clear-Mount Stamp Set [131059] Papillon Potpourri Clear-Mount Stamp Set [123759] Petite Petals [clear] [133155] Crisp…

Glad for flowers and companions

Anytime you’re feeling low, take a walk in a flower garden and it’s sure to brighten your day! There are so many colors and varieties, with fragrances to delight your senses. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot a butterfly fluttering here and there from blossom to blossom! Now go to your crafting space, and create a flowery card for someone you care about. For this card, I used a retired set called Bloomin’ Marvelous because the images fit so well with the Tea for Two designer series paper and the oval framelits, and I love the sentiment. You could easily recreate…

Another Hummingbird Miracle

Here’s another little hummingbird created from the Sale-a-Bration set called Bloomin’ Marvelous. It uses mostly retired products (Regal Rose and Certainly Celery Cardstock and retired DSP, as well as the Vine Street embossing folder), but the layout could be used with other similar current stamp sets, such as Elements of Style (118611 W, 120645 C) or Wildflower Meadow (129165).

Hummingbird Miracles

Here’s a little hummingbird to brighten your day. I love this Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Bloomin’ Marvelous. Too bad Sale-a-Bration ended in March! It’s just starting to feel like spring around here, even though it’s June already:( Hope your day is marvelous!
