Happy Labor day weekend! I love LOOOONNNG weekends, and this weekend is no exception. Having that extra day off from work allows me to do most of the things that ‘need’ to be done, and still have time to PLAY! I hope you have some time to play this weekend as well.
My grandsons came to visit on Saturday, so it was an extra special weekend. While they were busy playing with some new birthday Lego sets, I pulled out a “few” card-making supplies (the pile of supplies kept growing larger – LOL!)
I had just purchased the ‘Happy Holidays’ issue of CardMaker magazine too, so I was inspired to start creating some Christmas designs. I really love the colors from the Stampin’ Up! Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Smoky Slate & Whisper White), which is sadly retired now.
With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays last year, I didn’t have nearly enough time to use it!
So what better day to bring it out than PLAY DAY? Here are a couple of cards I created with the Winter Frost color scheme and some pieces from my scrap bin:
Today I decided to continue to play with these colors and incorporate them into a card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge by Nicole Watt. Here is her sketch:
This is the card I created using the Stampin’ Up! Christmas Bliss photopolymer stamp set. The trees are stamped in Bermuda Bay and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder (sparkly, but hard to see in the photo):
I had a lot of fun playing with this sketch! Won’t you play along? You have until tomorrow at noon (CST) to link your creation to the challenge
. While you’re there, be sure to check out all the other great designs.
This week there’s another color challenge at the Pals Paper Arts – PPA211! Here is the pretty color combo for the challenge and my card : The inspiration for my creation was this beautiful card by Lynn on Pinterest. I liked the central butterfly image and the colored square layered on an embossed piece of whisper white card stock, so I started with those, but chose to incorporate more Daffodil Delight in my design. I love bright yellow, whether it’s in my garden, on a card, or on my kitchen walls! The butterfly was stamped in Night of Navy on…
Good Morning! Hope you all had a fantastic 4th of July weekend and are ready for the start of a new week. Over at Pals Paper Arts, there’s a color challenge this week with this color palette: The card I’m sharing with you today started with the basic gray stamped image from Serene Silhouettes and was originally intended to be a sympathy card. The colors are so tranquil and could easily be used for that, as well as many other occasions. The birds were colored with an aqua painter in lost lagoon. As I assembled the layers for the bird image,…
At our house, June is jam-packed with birthdays, accompanied by an occasional anniversary or graduation celebration or two….or three. Oh, and don’t forget Father’s Day is thrown in there too! All these special occasions have put a serious dent in my card supply! To remedy that I decided to participate in my first PPA card challenge… Here is the card I created: Nicole’s sketch for the challenge: As you can see, I pretty much stuck to the sketch (love it!). I usually tend to center most of the elements on my card, so it was fun to mix it up a little by…
